Near North backtracks on criticism of its staff, admits it was 'unfair

Near North District School Board trustees are backtracking on comments made last week about school board administration.

The school board’s communication team issued a media release on Monday afternoon on behalf of the chair of the school board, admitting that it had engaged in “unfair treatment” towards senior staff.

“We recognize that the way in which this matter was handled did not reflect the standards of fairness, professionalism, and collaboration that our communities expect of us,” said the board in a statement.

This is a big climbdown from last week, when trustees stated they are fed up and are calling on the Minister of Education, Paul Calandra, to conduct an investigation into senior staff withholding operational and financial information.

A special meeting was held last Tues
