The Boston Red Sox have enjoyed an impressive surge since calling up top prospect Roman Anthony, surging past the New York Yankees in the standings as the young outfielder enjoys a historic debut.

Anthony became the youngest Red Sox player to ever hit a leadoff homer against the Baltimore Orioles on Monday. But as the 21-year-old surges, another Red Sox outfielder has fallen back into a brutal slump.

"Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran has struggled during August, going 15-for-71 (.211) with a .345 on-base percentage, .324 slugging percentage and .669 OPS in 20 games," Christopher Smith wrote for MassLive . "Duran has had an inconsistent season overall with a .762 OPS in March/April, a .697 OPS in May and .701 OPS in June."
