SOUTH BLOOMFIELD, Ohio — A routine traffic stop by the South Bloomfield Police Department on August 25, 2025, escalated into a significant drug bust and a life-threatening incident involving suspected fentanyl exposure, highlighting the dangers faced by law enforcement and the strength of inter-agency cooperation.

At approximately 5:00 p.m., two South Bloomfield officers conducted a traffic stop that resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of suspected narcotics and a firearm. During transport to the Pickaway County Jail, one officer was exposed to suspected fentanyl and began showing signs of an overdose. A Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant at the jail quickly recognized the symptoms and administered Narcan, a life-saving opioid overdose reversal drug.
