ALCOA, Tenn. (WVLT) - Officers with the Alcoa Police Department are investigating a serious crash involving a bicyclist and an 18-wheel semi truck Tuesday morning.

Officials said that officers were called to the crash just before 8:00 a.m. Tuesday on East Hunt Road near the intersection of North Wright Road.

When officers arrived, they found that the semi truck and cyclist were going the same direction before colliding, officials said.

When first-responders arrived on scene they immediately began CPR on the cyclist.

Police said that the cyclist was taken to UT Medical Hospital and is listed in critical condition. The tractor-trailer driver was uninjured in the crash.

Alcoa Police said that their officers are continuing their investigation.
