GORHAM, Maine — A gas leak closed part of Mosher Road in Gorham on Tuesday after a Maine Department of Transportation crew struck a gas line while digging.

Two workers were evaluated at the scene, and one was taken to a hospital but is expected to recover, the Gorham Fire Department told NEWS CENTER Maine.

The closure affects Mosher Road between Main Street and Mallison Street. As of 1 p.m. it had reopened to one lane as crews repaired the line.

Authorities said there is no danger to the public but urged motorists to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.

Traffic lights at Route 202 and River Road in Windham were turned off as a precaution, and police placed stop signs at the intersection, the town said in a social media post.

No additional information was immediately available.
