GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) - The Mesa County Coroner's Office announced Tuesday the identity of the motorcyclist who died after colliding with a vehicle on Aug. 20.

Grand Junction resident Edward Chesnik, 38, was the driver of the motorcycle in the crash near 29 1/2 Road and B 1/2 Road. The coroner's office said he was not wearing a helmet when the collision occurred.

Chesnik sustained injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead shortly after at a local hospital.

The Grand Junction Police Department is overseeing the investigation into the incident. Officers learned through their investigation that the driver of the truck traveling southbound on 29 Road turned east onto Four Corners Drive when they struck Chesnick, who was traveling northbound.
