A K9 team with the Picayune Police Department is celebrating an impressive achievement!
Monday, the department announced that Cpl. Shayne Cunningham and K9 Penny won the Utility Team certification in temperament and tracking through the National Narcotic Detector Dog Association (NNDDA).
K9 Penny was donated to the department last year by East Coast Canine in partnership with the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina. The department said that both of its active certified K9s were acquired at no expense to budgeted funds.
This is the second Picayune Police K9 to earn NNDDA certification — with plans already underway to add a third K9 in about six weeks.
