ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The man who wants to be Georgia’s 84th governor is kicking off his campaign in a tiny Georgia community with an estimated population of around 600.

Holding a massive financial lead over all of his GOP and Democratic contenders, Lt. Gov. Burt Jones will kick off his campaign Tuesday night at the Idlewilde Event Center in Flovilla, Georgia.

Flovilla is just a stone’s throw from Jones’ hometown of Jackson in Butts County. The community was officially founded in 1885, and its name means “village of flowers.”

The 2020 census recorded a population of around 643 to 647 people. Estimates for 2025 vary, but it remains a small community.
