HOUGHTON — Ronald E. Masters, 89, a longtime resident of the Copper Country, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Canal View Nursing Facility-Houghton County following a short illness.

He was born on December 2, 1935, in Hancock, MI, a son of the late John R. and Irene (Laurin) Masters. Ron was raised in Hancock and was a graduate of the Hancock Central High School class of 1955. Following graduation, he moved to Detroit, where he worked for Western Electric Company for one year returned to the Copper Country, where he was employed by Paynes News for five years on the delivery crew.

Ron was united in marriage to the former Esther Saatio. The couple resided in Hancock while Ron worked as an equipment operator at White Pine Copper Mine for 11 years. He later became a sales manager fo
