BOULDER — Deion Sanders chose experience over youth.
The Colorado coach announced Tuesday that Liberty transfer Kaidon Salter will start the season opener against Georgia Tech at Folsom Field on Friday (6 p.m. ESPN).
“He’s the guy,” Sanders said.
Salter had been battling five-star freshman prospect Julian "JuJu" Lewis for the starting job.
Salter, a Dallas-area native, arrived in Boulder last the winter after spending the previous four seasons as Liberty, two as the full-time starter. He led the Flames to a 13-1 record and an appearance in the Fiesta Bowl in 2023.
Over the past two seasons, Salter had over 5,000 passing yards and 1,600 rushing yards and 66 total touchdowns.
