GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - A man accused of killing a driver while the car was on the highway, leading to a crash, was formally charged Tuesday.

Ji-Gwe-Mko Layton, 18, from Nekoosa, is now charged with First Degree Intentional Homicide with Use of a Dangerous Weapon for an incident that happened August 15 in Ashwaubenon. Deputies responded to a crash in the area of I-41 southbound and STH 172 eastbound.

During last Monday’s court hearing, the state claimed the victim was driving on I-41 when he was shot in the head with a handgun, leading to the crash. Layton then was seen outside the car with a large rifle.

The criminal complaint states a Brown County Sergeant who arrested Layton reported hearing Layton say he shot and killed the victim. The complaint stated Layton was heard saying that
