Texas and Florida have asked to join a lawsuit filed against the FDA which seeks to severely restrict access to the abortion pill mifepristone. The move follows the dismissal of the case after Missouri, Kansas and Idaho brought a lawsuit in the state of Texas in support of anti-abortion group, Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine.
The case made it to the Supreme Court where it was dismissed in June of last year on the grounds that that the plaintiffs did not have standing. With the inclusion of Texas, the lawsuit could theoretically move forward once again.
In their justification for joining the case, Texas and Florida argue that abortion pills, which the FDA permits to be shipped discreetly in the mail, make it impossible to enforce their near-total abortion bans. The Alliance for Hipp
