EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Vanderburgh County drivers will have to start sharing the roads with a different type of vehicle.

The golf cart ordinance was approved at Tuesday’s Vanderburgh County Commissioners meeting.

Off-Road vehicles, like side-by-sides and 4-wheelers, have been allowed since 2020.

The golf cart ordinance follows those same rules.

For example: drivers must be 18 years old with a license, the golf cart must have headlights and taillights, and drivers can’t travel on certain roads or sidewalks.

“The sooner the better and we have a lot of golf carts in our community and being a golf area with a golf course creates more golf carts and so it’s just the safety of everything is what we are after,” says resident Larry Vanblaricum.
