Fifty years ago, "Jaws" made many moviegoers afraid to get into the water. To celebrate its fear-inducing feat, the movie is returning to theaters across the U.S. for its anniversary.

The thriller, based on the book by Peter Benchley, marked the rise of director Steven Spielberg and the beginning of the summer blockbuster . Released on June 20, 1975, "Jaws" went on to be come the first movie to make more than $100 million in U.S. box office receipts, according to the Guinness Book of World Records .
