Fresh off the success of Nolan McLean's first two MLB starts, the Mets are bringing up another heralded pitching prospect. Right-hander Jonah Tong , the Mets' No. 4 prospect and No. 44 overall per MLB Pipeline, will be called up to make his Major League debut on Friday against the Marlins, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Tuesday.
Tong, 22, leads all of Minor League Baseball with 179 strikeouts this season, and he has not allowed a run in 11 2/3 innings since he was promoted to Triple-A Syracuse earlier this month. Overall, he is 10-5 with a 1.43 ERA in 22 starts between Double-A and Triple-A.
