Bolivia's Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) announced the official results of the first round of the general elections held on August 17 and confirmed the runoff for October 19 between presidential candidates Rodrigo Paz of the Christian Democratic Party (PDC) and Jorge "Tuto" Quiroga of the Free Alliance.
TSE President Óscar Hassenteufel approved the national count in the plenary session, accompanied by international observers and delegates from the various political parties. With 100 percent of the votes counted, the PDC obtained 1.717.432 valid votes, equivalent to 32,06 percent of the total, followed by Alianza Libre, which achieved 1.430.176 votes, or 26,70 percent.
