RICHLAND, Wash. – Prosser Airport has received a $3 million federal grant from the Federal Aviation Administration Improvement Program.

The airport announced that it will use the funding to upgrade its lighting to an LED system, which includes lighting for runway and taxi lights, runway signs, approach and landing lights, runway end lights and lighted wind cones.

Prosser airport manager Quentin Wright said that the upgrades will enhance safety, reduce maintenance costs and improve energy efficiency.

“We appreciate our partnership with the FAA to bring this much-needed project to the Prosser Airport,” Diahann Howard, the port’s executive director, said.

Port of Benton has additional improvement projects planned at Prosser Airport through 2030.
