SALINE, MI — Efforts to clean up mold discovered at Saline Middle School ahead of the academic year are wrapping up, but students will have to wait one more day to get to class.

Teachers and staff were alerted Tuesday afternoon that they could return to the middle school, 7190 N. Maple Road, for final preparations to welcome students, whose first day is now Thursday, Aug. 28, according to the district .

“Out of respect for our teachers’ timeline to prepare their classrooms for students, we must, unfortunately, delay the start of school at Saline Middle School by one more day,” Saline Area Schools Superintendent Rachel Kowalski said in a letter to families Tuesday.

“Teachers and staff will be on site,” she added, “and our front office will also be open to families with any needs.”
