PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- The woman who shot and killed her fellow student before dying by suicide at UW-Platteville in May searched online for a map of her residence hall and where nearby gun stores were located leading up to the incident, according to a police report.

Hallie Helms, 22, shot and killed 22-year-old Kelsie Martin at Wilgus Hall on May 19 before turning the gun on herself. Helms was an elementary education major from Baraboo who lived at the residence hall, and Martin was the building's Assistant Resident Director and a psychology major from Beloit.
