OKLAHOMA CITY — In the wake of a call for an investigation of operations at the Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission, an acting director was named on Tuesday to oversee the entity responsible for regulating the state’s lucrative horse racing industry.

Members of the commission appointed Amanda English, an executive assistant to former director John Chancey, to take over day-to-day administration as a search is conducted to find a new director.

Chancey resigned last week after leading the commission for more than two years. Prior to his departure, he called for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and Federal Bureau of Investigation to look into operations of the commission, which he described as being too much under the influence o
