(NEXSTAR) -- When leaving for college, many young students will begin to find their identity in terms of their political stance. Whether that stance leans more to the left or right can be influenced by where these students choose to attend school.

Niche.com, which annually ranks the top colleges and universities in the country, has released a list of the "Most Conservative Colleges" in the U.S. -- and a Virginia university came out on top.

To find this, current college students and recent graduates across the country reported how they leaned politically, as well as their opinions on how other students at their school leaned.

Landing at the top of the list as the "most conservative" college was Liberty University in Lynchburg.
