The only thing we know for sure is that The Citadel starting quarterback Dustin Fletcher will not take the first offensive snap of the 2025 season for the Bulldogs.

Fletcher, in his third season with the program, will miss Saturday’s season opener against top-ranked and defending FCS national champions North Dakota State because of an injury to his non-throwing hand.

Who will start at quarterback for the Bulldogs against the No. 1-ranked Bison remains somewhat of a mystery, which is just fine with The Citadel head coach Maurice Drayton.

Whether it’s a bit of gamesmanship or there is still a battle for the starting job going on less than a week before the opener, Drayton wasn’t saying during his weekly meeting with the media.
