State Rep. Jillian Gilchrest became the latest Democrat Tuesday to challenge Congressman John Larson, saying the state and the party need a change.

"Right now, Washington isn’t listening to us,” Gilchrest (D-West Hartford) said during a campaign announcement at Blue Back Square.

Gilchrest is no stranger to primaries. She won the nomination from then-Rep. Andrew Fleischmann on her way to joining to House of Representatives in 2018.

Now, she’s looking to do the same at the federal level, saying Democrats aren’t doing enough to stand up to President Donald Trump and the Republican majorities.
