MASON COUNTY, MI – A longstanding Up North restaurant has a new owner, a new vibe and will soon open under a new name.

Fins Beach Club will open on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at the site of the former Emerson Lake Inn in the tiny community of Walhalla in Mason County.

Dr. Andy Riemer, a Ludington ophthalmologist, purchased the restaurant last year. Riemer began revitalizing closed restaurants after the COVID-19 pandemic, starting with Stix Bar near Ludington, which opened in 2022.

He also bought, renovated and reopened Chuckwagon Pizza in Ludington and Docs on the River (formerly Doc’s Sauble River Inn) in Free Soil. He’s also building a new restaurant in downtown Ludington, which will be known as AndyS .
