LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A major insurance company has decided to terminate its contract with Norton Healthcare.

In a letter from Monday , Norton said Cigna Healthcare ended the contract "despite [Norton's] diligent efforts to reach an agreement on fair and adequate reimbursements to provide quality care."

The existing contract with Cigna will end Sept. 8. While Norton Healthcare and Norton Children's will still accept patients with this insurance, care will be considered out-of-network, according to the letter.
