BUCKHOLTS, Texas — A suspect is on the loose following an alleged shooting and standoff in Milam County, the Milam County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) has announced.

According to the Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to reports of a gunshot victim on CR104 outside Buckholts around 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 26. When first units arrived on scene, they reportedly found a 24-year-old woman, identified as Grace Durbin, who had been shot.

Durbin reportedly told deputies that she had been shot by her boyfriend, identified as 38-year-old Cody Villareal.

The Sheriff's Office said additional units arrived to the scene and a perimeter was established around the property. Negotiators reportedly tried to contact Villareal multiple times to no avail.
