OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - On Tuesday, the Omaha City Council approved moving money from Keno to assist four local food banks .
A total of $150,00 will be split between four local non-profits. The money stems from an agreement to share Keno revenue with the city of Kearney.
City Council approved that agreement earlier this month. In it, Omaha deducts 2% to pay the state lottery tax and 1% pays City administrative costs.
The remaining proceeds are retained by Omaha. Kearney receives a fixed 8.75% slice of gross Keno revenues from the operation of satellite locations within the city.
The agreement is in affect now through May 2031.
