NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Studies show schools throughout the U.S. are struggling with low reading and math scores, while Tennessee students have shown some promise over the past couple of years.

A report from National Review, “The Southern Surge in Education,” shows Tennessee ranked third in the nation for math recovery and ninth in recovery for reading since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The report cited an Education Recovery Scorecard (from a Harvard-Stanford research collaboration), which tracks how well states are making up academic ground lost after 2019.
