OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Repair crews will begin work on a problem area in downtown early next month after recent rainfall upped the urgency of dealing with a hole that became a hot topic in the mayor’s race earlier this year .
According to a Tuesday news release from Mayor John Ewing’s office, the “building owners and the city could not come to an agreement about who was responsible” — but the repairs can’t wait any longer.
“OPPD has a damaged duct line in the affected area in need of immediate repair,” the release state. “Continued rainfall and resulting erosion to the soils around the exposed OPPD duct line has created an unstable situation exposing workers to unnecessary hazards.”
In July, Mayor Ewing said he would press property owners on getting the necessary repairs made, but now
