The Brazilian government criticized Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz on Tuesday for his "unacceptable" insults to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and called on him to take responsibility for the recent attacks on a Gaza hospital.

Brazil's Foreign Ministry said on social media that Katz uttered "unacceptable insults, falsehoods, and rudeness" against the country and Lula, after the minister accused the president of being an "open anti-Semite" and a "supporter of Hamas."

"It is hoped that Mr. Katz, instead of the usual lies and attacks, will take responsibility and investigate the truth about yesterday's attack on Nasser Hospital in Gaza, which resulted in the deaths of at least 20 Palestinians, including patients, journalists, and aid workers," he noted.
