It’s a numbers game for Matt Campbell. Iowa State’s coach is going to get his best 11 players on the field at once.
Saturday, in ISU’s 24-21 win against Kansas State, that meant asking Jeremiah Cooper, a returning senior voted all-conference player at safety, to switch to cornerback. And it appears Cooper’s move is here to stay for now.
Cooper made four tackles against KSU and broke up a pass. After the game, Campbell specifically mentioned the physicality Cooper plays with. He attacks the ballcarrier and strikes violently.
“I thought he was elite,” Campbell said Tuesday. “I thought it was one of the best games I’ve seen Jeremiah Cooper play here in his career, physical at the point of attack, does a really good job in the passing game and he’s got a lot of confidence.”
