KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Tennessee football great Peyton Manning has donated $4 million to the University of Tennessee's College of Communication and Information in honor of his academic mentors.

University officials announced the established of the Faye Julian Dean’s Chair Endowment and the John Haas Director’s Chair Endowment following the NFL Hall of Famer's multimillion-dollar contribution. University leadership held a ceremony Tuesday with Manning and members of the Julian family to commemorate the establishment of the endowment.

Endowment funds will be used to "support student success initiatives, faculty research, and other activities that drive the operation and progress of both the college and the school," according to a university release.
