City, county closed for Labor Day, trash pickup delayed

The city of Fort Wayne’s offices will be closed on Monday in recognition of Labor Day. Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday.

There will be no residential garbage and recycling collection on Labor Day, city officials said Tuesday. The collection schedule will be pushed back one day for the entire week.

Most Allen County offices also will be closed on Monday and will reopen for normal business hours on Tuesday.

County offices that provide 24/7 functions do not close for holidays, officials said. Some of these include the sheriff’s department, Community Corrections, Allen County Juvenile Center, youth services center and the highway department.
