CHALMETTE, La. —

Inside the St. Bernard Parish Courthouse, the captain who runs security is as unassuming as anyone you'll ever meet.

His name is Capt. Bryan Fleetwood, a name people here may not even know, but they should.

Twenty years ago, Fleetwood saved over 200 lives on Aug. 29, 2005, the day Hurricane Katrina hit.

Fleetwood, who back then was a sergeant with the New Orleans Police Department, joined two other NOPD officers and an OPSO deputy, and did the only thing they could with water 12 feet high in some neighborhoods.
