WILLISTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Chittenden County is getting a new recycling center, but the process got delayed again Tuesday night.
In 2022, voters overwhelmingly approved spending $22 million to build a new recycling facility to replace the 30-year-old one off Industrial Ave in Williston. The original plan had construction starting September 1st, but that timeline is now outdated.
At Williston’s development review board meeting, board members stressed great concern for the applied site’s impact on the surrounding habitat.
“Your response was, ‘This is the best place it can be.’ I disagree with that, and the person who put together the habitat disturbance agreement clearly disagrees with that. So there is not a lot up for discussion,” said Scott Rieley of the Williston Development Review Board
