IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- On Saturday the preparation ends with one simple goal for the Iowa Hawkeyes: Be ready.

“Coach (Kirk Ferentz) said in our first meeting that our first impression, we want to come out flying, humming, and we just want to come out and be the best team we can be,” said senior defensive back T.J. Hall.

That's something Hall knows how to do. He, Xavier Nwankpa and Deshaun Lee return to their starting roles this season. Junior Koen Entringer and sophomore Zach Lutmer will look to fill gaps left by Quinn Schulte and Sebastian Castro.

“Every single person on defense knows it’s an honor to play defense at Iowa," said Entringer, who was named a team captain for this season, "and I think we’re just trying to hold up that standard. I think it starts with us playing together.”
