JACKSON, MI – The Jackson City Council has appointed an interim city treasurer, but it wasn’t their first choice.

In a Tuesday, Aug. 26 meeting, the Jackson City Council voted 4-3 to appoint Nanette Muntin to fill the position. The seat has been vacant since Martin “Marty” Griffin died on July 12 after battling pancreatic cancer.

Four candidates were interviewed, including Muntin, David Hamontree, Rohn Sharlow and Jonathan Williams.

Jackson City Council voted for their choice by a ballot, and Muntin and Williams, a former Jackson County Commissioner, advanced to the final round. Originally, Williams received the majority vote, but declined the position, adding Muntin would be a great choice.
