According to Spokane County Fire District 3, the scene is still active and mop-up operations have not yet been started by fire crews.

A hand line was completed around the perimeter of the fire, but active fires still burning within the area are causing delays in the mop-up phase.

Trains in the Latah Valley area have been halted while firefighters continue battling the flames.

SPOKANE, Wash. – Fire crews responded to a vegetation fire near the 5,400 block of South Marshall Road on Tuesday evening.

Teri Bunce, Public Affairs Director of Spokane County Fire District 3, reported that the fire is burning approximately 1.2 acres near Latah Valley. No structures are currently threatened by the blaze.
