PLAINVILLE, Conn. (WTNH) — Just over a month after the death of Plainville volunteer firefighter Ray Moreau, he is still on the minds of many in the community.

On Tuesday, people came together at Square Peg Pizzeria in Plainville to give back to the Moreau family.

"Doing something like this helps bring the community back together,” resident Sarah Greene said.

Support for Moreau's family came in one dollar at a time after he died while serving his community on July 27th.

Michael Ahern is the founder of Scoops for Troops, an organization aimed at fundraising for United States veterans. Being from Plainville, he decided to make a change for Tuesday's event.

“Me and my dad were actually hopping on a flight back from Chicago when the tragedy happened,” Ahern said.
