MANCHESTER, N.H. —
The New England Patriots announced their updated 53-man roster Tuesday.
Undrafted rookies Elijah Ponder, a linebacker, and Efton Chism, a receiver who led the team in receiving yards during the preseason, both made the roster.
Safety Kyle Dugger and receivers Kendrick Bourne and Javon Baker, who were considered at risk of being cut, also secured spots. In total, the Patriots kept eight receivers.

Among the cuts was guard Cole Strange, a 2022 first-round pick.
The Patriots open the regular season Sept. 7 against the Las Vegas Raiders at Gillette Stadium.
