The second time was the charm for Northport mayor-elect Dale Phillips on Tuesday.

Phillips won the race with 62.7% of the vote against three other candidates. Phillips, who also ran for mayor in 2020, campaigned on a platform for "common sense leadership."

Unofficial returns also showed city council president Christy Bobo was defeated by challenger Turnley Smith, who received 73.4% of the vote.

Another turnover occurred in District 3, where Jamie Webb Conger defeated incumbent Karl Wiggins with a landslide victory of 85.7%.

District 2 incumbent Woodrow Washington won reelection with 54.1% of the vote.

District 4 incumbent Jamie Dykes won reelection with 60.8% of the vote.

Danny Higdon ran unopposed for the District 5 seat.
