SOUTHAVEN, Mississippi — Reginald “Reggie” Carroll, a celebrated Baltimore stand-up comedian known for his television appearances and national tours, was fatally shot last week in northwest Mississippi in a town just 15 minutes south of Memphis, USA Today reported .

The Southaven Police Department said officers responded to the area of Burton Lane and found one man, identified as Carroll, suffering from gunshot wounds. The officers and medical personnel provided life-saving techniques, but he died from his injuries.

The police department said they have a person in custody who is charged with Carroll’s death, though they did not identify the suspect. Police described the shooting as an isolated incident but did not release details on a possible motive.
