EL CENTRO — Central Union High School teacher Theresa Gonzalez, for about the last decade until this year, was the coordinator of the Link Crew program at the school.
Gonzalez, 51, who has been teaching in the Valley for 25 years, 21 at CUHSD, had always been intrigued by the program and asked if she could lead it.
Link Crew is a transitional program to spur freshman students to get involved in the school and the community while being good students in the classroom.
“Eight years ago, I asked for that position to do more on-campus involvement to make a difference in students’ lives,” Gonzalez said.
Link Crew develops leadership roles to be role models on campus. To be a Link Crew leader, students must be at least a junior.
