FINDLAY — A Sept. 4 brown bag lecture at the Hancock Historical Museum will focus on the more than 170 years of policing in Findlay.

Retired Detective Sgt. Tom Davis will discuss the Findlay Police Department’s early history from its beginnings in 1853, and through “the lawlessness of a boomtown” in the 1890s.

Mr. Davis, who spent 53 years in law enforcement, including 45 years with Findlay police, will also discuss three murder cases from the 1960s and 1970s “that left a mark on the community and the department,” a museum news release said.

Attendees can bring a lunch and meet at noon at the museum, 422 W. Sandusky St. No registration is required. Members attend free. Non-members pay $5, the regular museum admission.
