America's largest grocery-only chain is Kroger , and when you are that big, sometimes you have to close doors on some underperforming locations.

According to Grocery Dive , at least 39 Kroger locations across America are on the chopping block, awaiting the axe, with 18 of them already closed.

Kroger announced plans to trim some of the fat and close underperforming stores in June of 2025, but now they have officially earmarked the locations that are likely going to close.

These metropolitan areas are among the cities where Kroger is closing locations:

Seattle

Los Angeles

Denver

Houston

Chicago

Minneapolis

Atlanta

Washington, D.C.

Miami

Milwaukee
