1. Missouri Southern State University will hold its West Africa film festival on Tuesday nights during the semester at Cornell Auditorium. Faculty selected a variety of films, including the 1973 Senegalese film “Touki Bouki,” the 2022 historical action-adventure film “The Woman King” and the 2020 Nigerian film “This Is My Desire.” The first film up is “Dahomey,” a 2024 documentary from Senegal, Benin and France directed by Mati Diop. It is a dramatized account of how 26 historical artifacts from the Kingdom of Dahomey were returned from a museum in France to their place of origin in Benin. It will be shown beginning at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Cornell Auditorium in Plaster Hall on the MSSU campus.
