Royal Mail is unleashing 3,500 solar-powered "postboxes of the future" nationwide, boasting a digitally-triggered drop-down compartment that lets punters dispatch parcels up to shoebox size.
This revolutionary design – marking the most dramatic transformation to the postbox in its 175-year existence – underwent testing in Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire earlier this year, and is now being rolled out to major cities such as Edinburgh, Manchester, Nottingham, Sheffield and Sunderland.
