CHICAGO (WLS) -- A slice of Chicago food history is now coming with an apron and rolling pin. The Original Pizzeria Uno, widely credited as the birthplace of deep-dish pizza, has opened its kitchen to the public for hands-on cooking classes.
The Original Pizzeria Uno is offering hands-on classes where guests can make the signature pie from scratch. The experience includes dough prep, layering ingredients and baking, plus plenty of tasting.
Rachel Mihich, general manager of Pizzeria Due , says the classes aim to teach both cooking skills and the history behind the city's iconic dish.
Upcoming sessions are ticketed and open to anyone looking to roll up their sleeves and dig into a slice of Chicago tradition.
