Newman Smith was placed into an interesting situation last year. The Trojans were projected by outside sources to win their district without ever having done so.

“We went into the season supposed to win. There’s a degree of difficulty teaching a team how to defend something that they’ve never won,” said head coach Robert Boone after May’s spring game.
