The Buffalo Bills trimmed their roster to 53 players on Tuesday. Several of those who didn’t make the cut weren't gone for long.

NFL practice squad signings officially open at noon Wednesday, with teams permitted to sign up to 16 players to their scout team. The Bills have a 17th spot because offensive lineman Travis Clayton is part of the International Pathway Program so he gets an exemption.

Many of the Bills' practice squad spots will be filled by players they just released on Tuesday, and that is commonplace for most teams because they've already invested time into those players and they are familiar with their teammates, the coaches, and the schemes. However, the Bills may sign a couple outside free agents, depending on availability and fit.
